ICC Codes
Service Agreements

Owners need to stay in touch with legislative news affecting their buildings.

The International Conference of Building Official (ICBO) is merging with the Building Officials and Code Administrators International (BOCA) and the Southern Building Code Congress International (SBCCI) to form the International Code Council (ICC) which is responsible for publishing and revising the International Building Codes (IBC) and International Fire Codes (IFC).

Do you know that Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) keeps the focus on occupant safety?

It is important for you to know these recommendations since many code changes apply to existing facilities when the facilities go through major alteration projects.  Some recent changes include…

Incidental use areas
Corridors in office buildings with sprinklers
Pressurized stair enclosure
Aisle width

On existing buildings, try to stay ahead of the upcoming legislation and changes in major equipment design by knowing more on the following subjects…

Corridors
Portable fire extinguishers
Fire alarm thresholds
Smoke detection expense

If you have any HVAC job to complete, you may inquire about the above and see if these issues need to be incorporated in your project. If a consultant does the design work, please ensure that these decisions are shared so the design reflects the codes.
